Tell us about a property that could suit people working away

If you would like to let your property to contractors and other people working away from home, we would like to hear about it, whether it is a furnished house or flat, a block of serviced apartments or a hotel.

Where it is and what kind of place it is are enough to begin with. Send them through the form on our contact page, and the steps below explain what happens next.

Who we would like to hear from

  • Owners of furnished houses and flats
  • Landlords with furnished property to let
  • Serviced apartment and aparthotel operators
  • Hotels and guest houses near sites, offices and projects

Looking for accommodation for your own people instead? Start with the corporate enquiry form.

What makes a property suit a working stay

Treat these as what we look for rather than conditions. Each stay decides which of them matter most.

For the practical side, from setting a property up for people on shifts to who to ask before the first stay, read our guide to letting to contractors.

Somewhere to live, not only to sleep

People staying for weeks or months tend to settle better in a whole house or an apartment with its own front door. For shorter stays, serviced apartments, aparthotels and hotels often suit better.

Close to where the work is

Near sites, offices and projects, where the journey in still works when shifts start early or finish late. The right area matters more than a particular town.

Somewhere to cook and do laundry

After the first few nights, cooking a proper meal and washing work clothes matter a great deal. A full kitchen and a washing machine, or laundry on site, make a long stay workable.

Good beds, Wi-Fi and a table to work at

Long days at work make sleep matter. Proper beds, Wi-Fi for keeping in touch with home and a table for evening paperwork all help.

Ready to live in from the first night

Someone arriving after a long drive should find linen and towels, a kitchen with what they need to cook, and heating and hot water that work.

Parking and access, described as they are

People working away often drive, sometimes in vans. Clear, honest details about parking and access help us match the property to the right stay.

How it works today

What happens after you get in touch

There are three steps, and getting in touch commits you to nothing.

1. Describe the property. Use the form on our contact page and say you are an owner or operator. To talk it over first, ring 01733 964574 during office hours.

2. We keep the details on file. We read what you send, ask about anything that is unclear, and keep the details so the property is in mind if a company needs accommodation near it.

3. If a requirement nearby could fit, we get in touch. We talk it through with you first. If we start placing guests at your property, we will explain how it works, any fee and the terms in writing before you commit to anything.

Worth including in your message

  • That you own or run the property
  • Where it is, with the postcode
  • What it is: a house, a flat, serviced apartments or a hotel
  • How many bedrooms, and whether it is furnished
  • When it could be available, if you know

Leave out anything you are unsure of. We can ask about it later.

What we cannot promise

Telling us about a property does not mean a stay will follow. We cannot promise bookings, occupancy or income, and whether a requirement comes up near you depends on where companies need people.

Better to say that plainly now than to raise hopes.

Who stays

People away from home for their work

Contractors and site crews, project and engineering teams, and staff relocating for a new role: people working away for their employer, who need somewhere to live near the job.

They are usually out at work through the day. What they want to come back to is somewhere practical and quiet, where they can cook, wash their clothes, sleep well and call home.

A stay might be a few nights for a short job, or several months while a project runs.

Host questions

Questions from owners and operators

Anything not answered here, ask in your message, or ring 01733 964574 during office hours, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.

Does telling you about a property commit me to anything?

No. It tells us the property exists and where it is, and nothing more. Whether anything goes ahead is your decision, made later and with the details in front of you.

Can I tell you about more than one property?

Yes. Send them in one message or several, and give the location of each one. If you run a building of serviced apartments or a hotel, describing the building as a whole is fine.

I run a hotel or serviced apartments. Is this for me?

Yes. A short stay, or one person on their own, can suit a hotel room or a serviced apartment better than a whole house, so we would like to hear from operators as well as owners.

Where are you looking for accommodation?

Near wherever companies need people to work. Peterborough is where we are based, and we arrange accommodation for teams in other parts of the UK too, so tell us where your property is. Nobody can say in advance where requirements will come up, so this is no promise of demand in any area.

What happens to the details I send?

We keep them so we can reply, and so the property is in mind if a requirement near it comes up. Our privacy policy explains what we keep, why, for how long, and what you can ask us to do with it.

Own or run a property near where people work?

Send a few lines about it through our contact page, and say you are an owner or operator.
